Best in Test: The Actual Test

Is coffee an elixir of life here in Scandinavia or just something Swedes offer their guests? Which feature is most important on the list – good design or good coffee? Maybe both aspects? Those are just some of the questions that the Bäst-i-test team answers. This team has been my go-to for a review of many consumer products during my time here in Sweden!

They create all of the tests themselves and use a long test period. Their testers are experts in their specific field. The tests take place over a longer period of time in order to provide a reliable picture of build quality, functionality, design and customer experience. This testing methodology combined with their independence from product manufacturers and service providers means the Swedish people can trust their tests and is the reason why I want to share their point of view with you.

To become a Best in test winner, the coffee machine must above all make a really good and hot coffee, be easy to use and preferably be a feast for the eyes in its place in the kitchen.

Best in Test: Budget Friendly Choice

The Philips HD 7456 is a really affordable coffee maker that brews directly into a thermos. The fact that the coffee ends up directly in a thermos during brewing means that the coffee is kept warm, which reduces the risk of wastage, and it also saves energy as you don't have to keep the plate warm afterwards. The fact that the coffee maker switches itself off immediately when brewing is complete is also a plus. The thermos holds the heat well, immediately after brewing the coffee is 87°C, a quarter of an hour later the bäst-i-test team measured the temperature at 85°C and another two hours later the temperature was at 78°C.
